Children and Youth
We are a family friendly church that runs a number of activities for children and families. See below for our regular activities and events.
on Sunday we have a morning and evening service. More details here. However as we are a small church we only run our Sunday School along-side the morning service, so we recommend families with young children attend that service.
We begin in the church all together with sung worship and an all age talk. Then the children go out for the rest of the service to “Junior Church”.
As we only have a small church building, this takes place in a local community hub called the “Cyber Café”. This is a short walk away from our church building in Port Ellen and is a great space where the children are able to play games, do craft and relax on sofas!
If you are new or visiting you are welcome to walk across to the Cyber Café with us. to help settle your child in. Guardians can then either go back to join the rest of the service and hear the sermon or are able to stay with their child(ren) if they would prefer.
The activities in Junior church are aimed at school aged children.
We are currently unable to run a crèche, so for pre-school age children we have toys, books and an area for you to sit with your child in church. Or you can bring them to the Cyber Café but we have to ask a guardian to remain with them throughout.
The children then arrive back to the main church building to join their families and have some juice and biscuits.!
SUNDAY’S
TEENS CAFE
Every Friday Evening for young people of High School age. You can play some table tennis. football join in games on the beach Or you can just pull up a bean bag and relax with friends.
Free of charge but bring some small change for the tuck shop if you want some snacks.
MESSY CHURCH
Jointly hosted with the Church of Scotland , Messy church is designed for families to explore the Christian faith together through songs, crafts and sharing a meal together.
Visitors are always welcome, but to make sure we have enough food and cater for allergies we ask that you can let us know if you are planning on attending.

BEACH CLUB
1st Week in August Every Summer.
A week of drama, crafts, games, messy challenges, friendship and discovery!
For over a decade the Islay Beach Club has been sharing the good news with children from Islay & Jura but is also open to any children on holiday that week.
Prior registration is essential for this event.
CHILD PROTECTION
We take safeguarding very seriously and all our events for children & young people are run by adults who have undergone a government background check known as a PVG and been trained in how to work with children safely.
Any concerns can be reported to the minister of the church or our safeguarding officer. We are also a member of the Baptist Union who support churches with safeguarding practices and concerns.
